Five decades in the pet trade.
Orange King is run by Ed de Bever. He started in the pet trade at fifteen and has worked in it ever since. He was an employee until 2005, when he and Moni de Bever took over Maro Trading Co. B.V., the company behind the home-textile brand In The Mood Collection. In 2006 they founded Lex en Max, a pet products company. Both companies were later sold, each in a publicly announced deal. Since 2024 Ed has run Orange King as a trade agency for textiles and pet products.

Ed works to demand: what the market asks for decides what gets developed. He knows the seasonal rhythm from In The Mood Collection: two collections a year alongside a year-round core range. He chooses the manufacturers in India, Pakistan, China and Europe product by product, for quality and reliable delivery.

- c. 1975 – 2005In the pet trade from the age of fifteen; the first thirty years as an employee.
- 2005Took over Maro Trading Co. B.V. in Raamsdonksveer (Chamber of Commerce no. 18080419) together with Moni de Bever. The company already existed and traded under the home-textile brand In The Mood Collection.
- 2006Founded Lex en Max, also together with Moni de Bever. Launched the first dog and cat cushion line at the Dibevo trade fair.
- 2007Lex en Max B.V. registered as a separate company with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (18089889).
- 2020Maro Trading Co. B.V. and the In The Mood Collection brand acquired by Edelman B.V. (announced July 2020).
- 2024Lex en Max acquired by Johnson Petfoods B.V. (announced May 2024).
